These guidelines are intended to inform the PhD student on the didactic obligations of the Doctorate program, aimed to provide PhD students with a broad educational training for reaching adequate scientific maturity and autonomy in performing research.
For more information about PhD students’ activities – General considerations click here PhD students’ activities – CFU breakdown Similarly to Bachelor and Master degrees, the activity of a PhD student is based on formative credits (CFU). The CFU is considered a measure of the workload of the PhD student. To obtain the PhD degree, a workload of 180 CFU is required. The 180 CFU are equally distributed in the 3-year program (60 CFU/year) and appropriately divided into different activities.
The different activities listed above are classified into the 3 general groups. The Table reports the groups with the relative quantification in terms of CFU: |

The thesis workload (120 CFU) is related to the development of the research on the chosen subject and does not need to be accounted. On the contrary, the remaining 16 and 44 CFU need to be accounted through the activities reported and described hereafter.
PhD students’ activities – Attendance to courses and participation in workshops and internships organized by DISVA (16 CFU) 6 CFU of interdisciplinary credits should be obtained by: 10 CFU of disciplinary credits can be obtained by freely choosing a set of activities between the various options offered: For more information about PhD students’ activities – Other activities (44 CFU) click here Students should use this Table to summarize the yearly-performed "other activities". The Table will be an integral part of the material that each student will have to present to the School council for the annual verification. |

(*) Student(s) will be selected among the applicants at the closing time for applications. Priority will be based on seniority of PhD enrollment (3rd year > 2nd year > 1st year). However: - Whoever applies to two or more activities inside the "workshops" group will have priority over the first and no priority over the others eventually selected. - Whoever applies to two or more activities inside the "internship" group will have priority over the first and no priority over the others eventually selected. - Whoever has exceeded the necessary credits will have zero priority. In the case of equal priority, applicants will be interviewed. |
