Oceanographic buoy Fortunae

boa fortuna

“The Fortunae oceanographic buoy is positioned in the Fano Marine Centre area, two miles from the coast, in a position with 12 m depth, at the following coordinates:

Latitude: 45°53' 30 “N ; Longitude: 13° 00” 30 ’E

The buoy is a weather/marine laboratory that, at regular intervals, registers marine and atmospheric data which are transmitted to a dedicated server and made available in real time, both for scientific analyses and for open public consultation.

For this purpose, data are updated every 30 minutes on the website: https://www.irbim.cnr.it/sitoss-dettagli/fano-boa/

The buoy is anchored to the bottom and consists of an emerged component used to house the meteorological instrumentation and a submerged part where the marine sensors are located. Overall, the buoy provides measurements of:

Atmospheric temperature and pressure, relative humidity, wind direction and intensity for weather observations.

Temperature, salinity, pressure, turbidity, fluorescence, oxygen, sea current direction and intensity, wave direction and height for oceanographic observations.

Finally, the buoy is equipped with a camera that, once an hour, transmits a 30-second video of the measurement area, which is also available on the website.
